Being positioned in 20 KV line limits of approach is one of the main reason to not sign the supply contract for some residential or commercial consumers. Guilan province’s cities, especially Rasht has gabled roof houses with a slope, and its streets are without a sidewalk or sidewalks are narrow and have trees. In addition the high price of land caused population density in the rurals. Existence of 20 kV overhead lines for the past years in these areas and lack of public awareness of power lines limits of approach rules has resulted in not signing the supply contract with new consumers in these areas. To address this problem, power distribution companies have to make a change to 20 KV lines configuration, which results in operational problems. In this paper the different problems of limits of approach, exact measuring the limits of approach area and examining different ways to remove the limits of approach with practical examples and the change in lines configuration solution is presented. Finally some ideas are suggested to improve their performance.
